Waterloo Uncovered (the charity that combines archaeology at the famous battlefield with veteran care and recovery) is looking for participants to join a friendly and fascinating online course as part of the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust’s Tackling Loneliness programme. No previous background in archaeology necessary – just a clear interest.
Battlefields Uncovered: Introduction to Archaeological and Historical Investigations of Conflict
This course brings former and serving military personnel and their adult family members together with university students and interested people from all walks of life to explore the archaeology of Waterloo and other iconic battlefields.
We are particularly interested in recruiting those who might be experiencing or at risk of experiencing loneliness or social isolation.
I’m reaching out to your organisation because I believe that you might be able to help us connect with people who could really benefit from this programme.
Course dates: September 13th and December 10th 2021.Total of 30 flexible hours of online learning and an online social programme
Small, friendly seminar groups Direct contact with archaeological tutors also experienced in veteran care Social interaction with fellow veterans and adult family members Diverse study groups bringing veterans and adult family members from numerous countries together with university students Fascinating archaeological case studies Expert lecturers Flexible hours Technical support Sign-posting to expert mental health and wellbeing organisations if necessary Accreditation from Utrecht University
Applications for this course are open between the 10th and the 30th of June.
