LAUNCH OF THE SUPPORTING EX-FORCES PERSONNEL PROFESSIONAL NETWORK
The Probation Institute is pleased to announce the launch of the Supporting Ex-Forces Personnel Professional Network. The launch of the Network marks the first stage of the project which is supported by a grant from the Force in Mind Trust.
Members of this network can now access a dedicated online platform which facilitates the exchange of knowledge, containing links to useful websites and documents to help assist them, their colleagues and offenders alike. It also gives Members an opportunity to share good practice, material, research and interventions, either by adding to the resource library or via the online forum.
This is just the first stage of this exciting project, providing a great opportunity for all those involved in work with ex-Service Personnel, to help shape the future of those that have served.
To become part of this first fully active network, visit the Probation Institute website www.Probation-institute.org/network.
The launch of the network is just one stage of the initial aims of the project.
The project aims to:
- Build and disseminate an evidence base for the needs of those offending ex-Service personnel who are currently under probation supervision and the effectiveness of probation services currently in place for them;
- Facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practice across different organisations who work with ex-Service personnel serving sentences;
- Involve the ex-Service personnel and practitioners in evaluating the effectiveness of community justice work with the veteran cohort, and encourage professional development and enhancement of services in this area
Work on the remaining elements of the project continues in earnest, further information on the progress of the project will be released in due course.
