Please see the below information on a play set during The Blitz in Sheffield. One of the stars happens to be the son of Dymph Knowles, who used to be an RBL Area Manager in Manchester!
Operation Crucible is a story about the wartime Everyman. Those sat beneath the bombs rather than dropping them.
It follows the lives of four steel workers in Sheffield on the 12th December 1940 who take shelter in the city’s Marples Hotel following a sustained bout of bombing by the Luftwaffe code named ‘Operation Crucible’.
The show was nominated for three OffWestEnd awards in 2015 and picked up 14 four star reviews including glowing reports in the Times, The Guardian, Time Out and The New York Times.
The play will be at the Sheffield Crucible Theatre from 6th-24th September and then continue in a UK tour until the end of October.
