Rotherham MCVC has received a certificate of achievement from the Houses of Parliament, signed by the Speakers of both the House of Commons and House of Lords, in recognition of the participation we made during UK Parliament week in 2017.
The main event was a briefing by Colonel Mac McPherson MBE about how our democracy works and the interaction between the elected House of Commons and the appointed (unelected) House of Lords. Our local MP, Sarah Champion then gave a very interesting insight into the work of an MP and some of the work she does on our behalf which is often unreported.
A group from the MCVC are hoping to visit the Palace of Westminster at some point in 2018. If you are interested please keep an eye on this website for more details. You may also find out more by visiting our weekly drop in sessions on Friday between 10-1200 at Silverwood Miners Welfare Centre – details in the contact page.
