ONE member of an ex-servicemen’s organisation had his work on behalf of his colleagues recognised recently when he was presented with a special award by the High Sheriff of South Yorkshire, Lady Ruby Sykes.

Steve Bentham-Bates, who advises colleagues at the Rotherham Military Community Veterans Centre (MCVC), was made redundant from the RAF in 1996 after 24 years’ service. He now helps others in the same position make the transition to civilian life.
