Street Market back in business

Tuesday marketWe’re pleased to confirm our popular Street Market is back on Tuesday!

Stalls will be located along Effingham Street, College Street, at the top of Bridgegate (next to All Saints’ Square) and in Effingham Square and will be spaced out to enable safe social distancing.

All traders will have completed a risk assessment for safe operation of their business and extra staff will be on duty.

Shoppers are reminded to remain 2 metres apart and contactless payments are encouraged as much as possible.

Don’t forget the general outdoor covered market is also open on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays and the second-hand market is open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The Indoor Market remains open on Fridays and Saturdays for essential foods from 8.30am to 2pm.

Please be assured work is on-going to safely re-open the Crafters Market and the Thursday Bazaar as soon as it is possible to do so.

Rotherham river revitalised

Fish pass

The final piece in the jigsaw of a 20 year vision to enable salmon to return to the River Don has been completed.

People passing by Forge Island in the town centre will now be able to see the Masbrough Weir fish pass, thanks to a partnership between Don Catchment Rivers Trust, Canal and River Trust, the Environment Agency, Yorkshire Water and Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.
