Veterans mentors – We need some help – have you got a few hours a week to support us?

The MCVC has just increased its commitment to supporting those Veterans in Custody.  In particular we recognise that several veterans leaving custody need some support to settle back into community life.  To support this group of veterans we need some dedicated mentors who after a little bit of free training can provide that little bit of support which will help people quickly settle back into communities.  Jim Oakes is the project manager for the MCVC prison in reach work and he can be contacted via this website, or even better will be able to explain what is needed to be a mentor at our drop-in sessions each Friday at Silverwood Miners Welfare in Dalton.

Mentoring can be highly rewarding, it is not difficult and the training is simple.  If you have a few hours to spare and are looking to do something for someone else – come and meet Jim and find out a little more.  You will be helping a veteran get back on his feet!
